This was the best thing we did in Vancouver on our short trip. We went in the 2nd week of December, Vancouver was rainy and 9 degrees Celsius so I wasn't sure what Grouse Mountain would be like, but we were very keen to see snow so we gave it a go (its very expensive so it was a risk!). Luckily as our cable car ascended the rain turned to snow and 6 minutes later we were in a winter wonderland. The light walk was gorgeous in the softly falling snow, we did it when we arrived and again just on 4.30 when it was getting dark. My teen daughter skated ($10 skate hire) and we hired a sled ($5) and each had a go at sledding. The reindeer was pretty and the ranger was friendly and chatted to us. The only negative was the lack of information about how to get there (we ended up catching an uber, it was not clear if the free bus operates in winter as the website says summer only). We then caught a public bus back to Vancouver but again, no information about how to do this and we went too far and had to catch a different bus back to downtown, it took an hour and a half and was raining, dark, crowded and miserable. A simple sign at the public bus stop clearly stating where to get off and change buses and how to buy bus tickets would have been great and would be an easy thing to do.
