We did the Klein Island tour with Irie. The island was just beautiful. This tour is a must if visiting Curacao! The beach was relatively clean, the water was crystal clear and the shoreline was picturesque. The short walk to the lighthouse and shipwreck were interesting. You won't find beach chairs but there are palapa thatch roofed tikis for shading but they are limited in supply so you are encouraged to share them with other guests. The catamaran boat ride from the mainland to the island is approximately 1.5 hours and to me, it was fun. The personnel on deck were very nice. Why do I give this tour a "3"? Well, to start, what's included in the tour itself was lackluster. For starters, the sandwiches should have been individually wrapped, instead of exposed openly on display for anyone to fondle with and take to eat prior to lunch being served (unsanitary). Water should be bottled instead of passing out wax covered cups and provided water to tourists from a jug that wasn't cleaned/rinsed inside. The water tasted like something else was in the jug prior to being filled. It was just awful. The sodas should have been given out to tourists in cans instead of 64 ounce bottles that everyone on the boat had to pick up and share. Quite frankly it was non- hygienic and tacky. BBQ was served without the consideration for those who are vegan or don't eat pork. The catamaran boat docked far enough from the boat for visitors to either swim to it or wait for the dinghy boat to pick you up and take you to the boat to either have lunch or relax on the boat. I think providing BBQ was not the best choice for food delivery and it was highly inconvenient to even obtain it. Individually wrapped sandwiches (not just ham & cheese, but a variety, maybe turkey and vegan sandwiches as well), chips, fruit, canned soda and bottled water should have been served instead and would have been suffice. The announcer was a low speaker, he could hardly be heard. We missed getting snorkeling equipment. He probably mentioned where to get it, but it should hve been distributed to anyone who wanted snorkeling equipment upon exiting the boat to the beach, which would have been helpful. Also, I think Irie Tours should stress or make clear that sea sickness can happen. There is rough water going from the mainland to Klein Island. Maybe it would be worth mentioning cautiously that sea sickness can occur and to ask tourists to consider prevention measures. Far too many people got sick on the boat. The stars from this review really come from the fact that the beach is just gorgeous, but unfortunately for the cost, the tour service from Irie, was not fully on point. Careful, well thought out planning, with higher standards for customer service could possible yield more business, Irie Tours! They have potential, but need to do better, in my opinion.
