After reading the negative comments about recent experiences at BG we kept our expectations low. We visited on Tues, Apr 18, 2023 and were concerned about long line and little amenities. We were pleasantly surprised at how well our visit went! Being a Tues it was quieter and were also told that since it was after Easter, the spring break crowd had lessened. We arrived 20 mins before the park opens, were admited 10 mins before the park opened and were first on the Montu rollercoaster. We even rode it several times in a row before moving on to Cheetah Hunt. We never waited more than 10 mins in any line for any ride (SOOOOO glad we didn't opt for the expensive jump-the-line pass). It is true that they are very shortstaffed and so only about 1/8 of the concessions were open. We found an un-busy Chick Fil A in the back of the park and had lunch there. Definitely bring a water bottle, there are refilling stations everywhere. Many of the rides do not let you have any over the shoulder back on to ride (like Cheetah Hunt) so you have to check into a timed locker for about $2. My advice, wear a fanny pack or nothing at all. Also, the back of the park where some of the older rides are (Sheikra, Kumba, Flume) was dead - no wait, no crowds. The app is worth downloading so you can check on rides during your stay. They seem to rotate staff so some rides like Cobra Curse and Serengeti Flyer were closed in the morning but open in the afternoon. "Temporarily closed" means closed at the moment, NOT closed for the day (we didn't realize that at first).
Overall we had a great visit, walked the entire park. Enjoyed the birds, cheetahs, alligators and giraffes. BG has done a nice job of providing covered walking areas so you can stay cool during your visit. Stay hydrated, wear sunscreen and be patient as the staff is working really hard to ensure everyone is safe and having fun (even when they are shortstaffed). We got lucky with the timing of our visit and had a fun day and road all the coasters.
