We met our guides at Rossio square as instructed. There were about 25 of us so we split up in two groups with a guide each.
We walked just around the corner for our first tasting. Here we had a small tawny port with cheese and quince paste. Our guide Ana gave a detailed talk about the history of the port, cheese and quince paste.
Our second offering was the famous ‘Bifana‘ sandwich with a small Sagres beer.
Next up was a walk to a picturesque square with a small bar selling Ginjinha (or Ginja). We had one of these with a sour cherry in the bottom of the glass.
Moving on to one of the oldest bars in Lisbon we tried cod cake with a green wine to wash it down.
Our last stop was a traditional locals restaurant where there were 2 reserved long tables waiting for us. Here we had chorizo, prawns in garlic, olives and bread. All washed down with a jug of local red wine.
We would highly recommend this walking tour with a lovely very informative guide. It’s a great way to visit bars/ restaurants that you would never know existed. Thanks Ana !
