This Mindo tour was an absolute masterpiece, blending adventure, culture, and nature into an experience that felt straight out of a dream! Every moment was perfectly curated to showcase the magic of this stunning region, leaving me in awe from start to finish.
The day started with an incredible birdwatching session. As the sun rose over the lush Chocó Andino forest, the air was alive with the songs of countless birds. Within minutes, we spotted vibrant hummingbirds darting like tiny jewels between flowers, and, to my amazement, we even saw toucans perched high in the treetops. Their bold colors and playful calls were unforgettable. The guide’s expertise here was unmatched—he not only knew every species by sight and sound but also shared fascinating insights that brought the forest to life.
The adventure didn’t stop there. After connecting with nature, we shifted gears to adrenaline-pumping activities. Ziplining through the lush canopy gave me a bird’s-eye view of the stunning landscape, and tubing down the crystal-clear waters of the Mindo River was as thrilling as it was refreshing. Just when I thought the day couldn’t get any better, we hopped on ATVs for a fun ride through scenic trails surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of Mindo.
And then came the chocolate and coffee tour—a true highlight! This wasn’t your average tasting; it was a hands-on experience where we prepared everything from the cacao fruit to the final rich, velvety chocolate. The same went for the coffee, as we learned the entire process, from bean to brew. It was interactive, educational, and absolutely delicious.
The guide tied everything together seamlessly. He wasn’t just a guide; he was a storyteller, a nature enthusiast, and an adventurer all rolled into one. His passion for the region and his attention to detail made the tour feel personal, engaging, and fun.
If you’re looking for a day packed with excitement, learning, and breathtaking beauty, this is the tour for you. From hummingbirds to waterfalls, ziplining to chocolate-making, it’s the ultimate Mindo experience. I can’t recommend it enough—it’s not just a tour, it’s a full-on journey into the heart of Ecuador’s natural and cultural wonders!
We took a day tour to experience the many things Mindo has to offer, and chose the waterfalls, hummingbirds and butterfly experience
Our guide Christian was incredible. He had an extensive knowledge of Quito, Ecuador, vegetation and birds and his English was excellent
He was very accommodating and allowed us to plan our itinerary
The walk to and from Nambillo waterfall was enjoyable and doable
We then went to see the butterflies where we learned many facts we’d previously not known and we even got to feed one !!
The highlight of our trip was the hummingbirds where again we were able to feed them. These tiny little birds actually landed on our hands, which was beyond amazing, and the speed of their wings felt like a fan !
The journey to and from Mindo was quite long, 2 plus hours but it was a great opportunity to see outside of Quito and Christian taught us so much along the way
