I really enjoyed my first day on this trip, despite it being at the height of China's "golden week", a period where a significant chunk of China's 1.2 billion strong population are all on holiday at the same time! Unsurprisingly it was very busy, which is where our guide Phoenix really came into her own. She is bright, bubbly and knows exactly when to go to each part of the park; it was a real relief to see we'd avoided the massive queues after we took the zipline and slide down the canyon, thanks to Phoenixs guidance. Despite the crowds in some areas we never felt rushed and got to see everything, which was very impressive given how much there is to see in one day. We did leave our hotels earlier than the itinerary suggests, but again this was critical given how busy it was. Everything was well planned out and I'm very happy with the trip.

We can't thank Weifang (IVy) enough for delivering to us in September 2025 - a 2 day tour of Zhangjiajie that was informative, well-organised, fun-filled and totally rewarding. At the start of each day, in the hotel lobby, after the pleasantries, in fluent English, she gave our group a concise briefing about the plan for the day, the weather forecasts and a reminder about passports. This was followed up in the van with useful stories about Zhangjiajie history, with questions to keep us engaged: she clearly wanted to listen to us, rather than just get voice! There were always bottles of water and spare raincoats or umbrella in the car. During the tour, she set the pace but walked at a relaxed pace so that she was among us all the time. She made sure we all had plenty of time at spectacular scenic spots (she knew them all!!) to admire the views and to take photos. She took photos of our group many times and it turned out that she was a good photographer! She was clearly enthusiastic to be on the tour with us. Before too long, we developed a strong rapport for her and she for us. So thank you Weifang for a fantastic tour and for your friendship.
