This was one of the worst tours I have ever taken. The tour started out 90 minutes late. There was a transfer to another bus at the beginning of the tour. Maybe 15-20 minutes addition wasted time. The second bus had a windshield with three separate and large cracks. Top notch for Mexican tours?
The first unscheduled stop was at a 7-11. Wasted 15 minutes there.
At the first real stop in Tulum, account were settled up with passengers - another 30 minutes wasted. The tour through Tulum was very short and the guide briefly described sites, but alway with other noisy tour guides and visitors in close proximity.
The second stop, Coba, was at a small village. Very few of the people on the tour bothered to keep up with the guide. There must be better managed and developed sections of Coba to visit that the one we stopped at.
The last stop was the Cenote. Some people actually went swimming. I would not. The banos were only 20-30 meters from the swimming hole. There is unlikely any sewage treatment in this small village, and probably some leakage into the Cenote. And the 'authentic' mayan buffet lunch looked a lot like a plain old Mexican lunch. Except there was very little meat in the Conchita pibil, and mostly scrap meat and bones in the chicken. And the frijoles dish was empty. Couldn't they even have adequate supply of beans for lunch?
Come on cheap-o tour operator. We paid good money for this experience!
