Without doubt, the highlight of my first trip to Venice was being warmly welcomed into your workshop, and then voga all veneta in the Aperol. She’s a beautiful craft, very beautifully restored. Nicola’s workshop was amazing as was the history of Venetian boats. The rowing experience itself felt really authentic and it was great to be out on the water in the canals.

We were going to go kayaking but cancelled to do this instead. We are so glad we did! It is an excellent family thing to do in Venice for almost any ages. Our kids are 18-25 and they all enjoyed it (which is a high bar). Nobody uses the original boats, since speedboats became accessible. This is the only way to experience what Venice waterways were like for hundreds of years before that. It takes minimal effort to row. It they’d stuck to row boats the the waterways would still be clean. Our guide Stefano was very knowledgeable and I came away with a longing to return to this craft.
