We have been loyal Heritage Park visitors and annual membership holders for 4 years now. We love the park. So, why the 1 star? TheHeritage Park advertising proudly presents discounted annual membership pricing for the 60th anniversary, but it does not include parking, unlike all the previous years! So, needless to say, I am stuck with $40 parking tickets now and I am not happy.

We landed in Calgary and were going to drive straight to Banff but at the last minute decided to spend several hours here and we are glad we did. First of all, it is on a beautiful piece of land next to a gorgeous reservoir. It's also very educational depending on how much attention you want to pay to that aspect. There are tons of things for kids to enjoy from the different modes of transportation (train, wagon, tractor, etc) to the old time amusement park. And all of that is included with the entrance price which I appreciate as I hate being nickeled and dimed once I'm already in. To really experience everything in the park you would have to come back on multiple days because it is so large.

I’m extremely disappointed and frustrated with Heritage Park’s misleading and unfair handling of memberships. We purchased the yearly pass, expecting it to provide what was promised: unlimited access throughout the season. On Saturday, May 10, we made the 40-minute drive (with a toddler!) excited to finally enjoy the park after a long winter. We even skipped our child’s dance class to make the visit special. Instead, we were met with confusion and frustration.
To our shock, we saw more than a dozen other families with kids walking away from the entrance — all turned back because, despite being members, we had to pay full admission due to an event that day. This was never communicated via email, even though we are fully subscribed to their updates. No warning. No courtesy notice. Just a surprise charge at the gate. Apparently, the management was counting on the fact that people, having already arrived, would feel forced to pay the full admission price. So, our day was ruined.
To make matters worse, the cashier told us this would also happen on multiple dates in June. So what exactly are we paying for with this membership? Heritage Park’s management clearly believes it's acceptable to change the terms whenever it suits them — leaving paying members completely in the dark. We felt disrespected and outright cheated.
