I have been to over 40 countries and rarely write reviews because I don't get easily impressed. But this time, I think travelers should know which tour companies in Egypt care about their clients. Egypt Promotion Tours is one of those honest and respectable companies. They provide first-class service at affordable prices.
I was blown away by their honesty, flexibility to change things, and their quick response to our needs, When we had to make some changes because of unanticipated changes in our itinerary they were very accomodating.
The team assigned to us was amazing. They were very nice, friendly, and professional. They were always on time and very competent in their areas of expertise. We saw all the sights in Cairo we wanted to see and more.
Our team deserves to be publicly recognized here because they made our Egypt trip relaxing, memorable, and stress-free.
1) Mahmoud - was our point person. He went over and beyond his duty to help us. Upon arriving at CAI, he met us at the airport and handled visa and immigration procedures. He was on-call 24/7. We would contact him whenever we had questions or needed anything in Egypt and he was always responsive. He arranged our PCR tests to be done at our hotel (twice)! And when we needed to rush our last PCR test for our flight back to the US, he went to the lab personally at 9 pm to make sure that our tests were ready for our flight. He was also with us at the airport to facilitate our departure and arrival in Jordan. When I say that he was available, 24/7, I meant it. Our flight to Jordan was at 6 am so he picked us up at our hotel at 2:30 am. Our flight back to JFK was at 2 am and he picked us up at our hotel at 10:30 pm and stayed with us at the airport until we cleared security. It's easy to see Mahmoud's dedication to his job and to his clients.
2) Noor - our Egyptologist guide was very knowledgeable, competent, and was always on time. We learned a lot from him. One of us prefers listening to the guide before exploring, while another prefers to walk around and take pictures within hearing distance to still be able to listen. Unlike most guides who force people to listen to them face to face first, Noor was very patient and understanding of these preferences. You can tell his enthusiasm about the stories he was telling us through his actions. He was proud to be part of the Egyptian culture and was more than happy to share it with us. He was a genuinely nice guy and even though he warned us about the street vendors and how to handle them (we had a code that would tell us if an item was good to buy or not), he treated them with respect and dignity and not just brush them off. He understood the challenges that the pandemic has brought to the tourism industry, especially local vendors. I like seeing the humanity and concern for others being preserved even in these trying times. He was always smiling and ready to answer any of our questions. We spent 2 days with him - a day tour of the Pyramids, Sakkara, and Memphis; and a day tour of the old city, Citadel, and the Khan el-Khalili Market. Both days were well spent! He also asked us if we wanted to shop and what we wanted to buy in Egypt. We all wanted to buy papyrus art. So he took us to one of the best shops!
3) Mohammed - our driver was always smiling and even though we didn't get to speak to him as much as we did with the others, he always seemed to be very pleasant. He was always on time and was a very safe driver. Not once did I see him pick up his phone when it rang while he was driving. (I read reviews of other tour companies where the main complaint is the driver talking on the phone while driving -- this was never an issue in our experience!)
FYI: Our trip, in particular, was more complicated than a regular trip to Egypt because we decided to squeeze in a 2-day trip to Jordan (to see Petra by night - which was unfortunately canceled) and then back to Egypt. We booked our flights on our own and we didn't realize that flying in and out of Jordan and Egypt at this time would be very complicated in terms of the timing of PCR testings. [you need a PCR to exit Egypt, another PCR at the Jordan airport upon arrival, then another PCR going back to Egypt -- even if we only spent 2.5 days in Jordan]. But because of our EPT team, everything was stress-free.
We highly recommend EPT if you are looking for a trustworthy and dependable local private tour operator in Egypt. Maybe if you're lucky enough, you'll get the team we got.
