Lovely Champagne Experience in Reims
Our Champagne tour through the Reims region was nothing short of exceptional. From start to finish, it struck the perfect balance of education, indulgence, and enjoyment. Our guide Martin was outstanding—warm, knowledgeable, and clearly a familiar face at the three Champagne houses we visited. This personal connection added a layer of authenticity and depth to the experience that truly set it apart. Martin made all the learning lots of fun.
We were given ample opportunity to ask questions and dive deep into the fascinating world of Champagne—from its rich history (including insights into the legendary Dom Pérignon) to the intricacies of modern production techniques. One of the highlights was descending into the atmospheric chalk cellars, where we learned how Champagne is stored and matured. Watching the demonstration of sediment removal by freezing the neck of the bottle was especially captivating.
The pace of the tour was perfect—leisurely enough to soak it all in without ever feeling rushed. A special highlight was the gourmet lunch at one of the producers, made entirely from locally grown and produced ingredients. It was a delicious and memorable complement to the Champagne tastings.
We also had time to stroll through a vineyard, take photos, and connect with fellow travelers. It was a wonderful mix of scenery, learning, and socializing.
We left with a deeper appreciation for the craft and care behind every bottle—and plenty of bubbles to remember it by!

What I liked most was the understanding of champagne history and visiting the smaller houses. You felt the pride and love of the art from them. Lunch was quite good as well.
