Let's visit the Sacred Lagoon and Salt Cathedral in 1 day! In this shared tour we will visit the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá which is the second largest cathedral made of salt in the world. This is a salt complex located 180 meters below the ground, which represents one of the most distinguished achievements of Colombian architecture, as well as being a true faith for the miners. In addition to this, we will visit the Laguna Sagrada de Guatavita, where the legend of "El Dorado" took place. This is a magical green area surrounded by an incredible landscape that you can see once at the top of the lagoon.

    Our guide begins the tour to drive to the north exit of the city, where we can visit some towns in the Sabana de Bogotá.

  • Catedral de Sal de Zipaquira, Zipaquira, Colombia
    Once we are in the municipality of Zipaquirá, we enter the Salt Cathedral for a guided tour of the mine and learn about the natural and architectural impact of the place and the legacy of the cathedral in Colombian culture. At the end we will be able to know a little more about the Historic Center, taking a tour of the main park and finding places to have lunch and shop.

  • Laguna de Guatavita, Tierra Negra, Colombia
    Upon our arrival we will be able to visit and learn about the history of the old and the new town of Guatavita and its process of expansion and creation of a new municipality. Then we will take a natural route to find the Sacred Lagoon and at the top we will learn about the Legend of El Dorado.

    At the end of our tour in Guatavita, we will take the road to Bogotà, where we will end at the meeting point.

I had an amazing day trip with a group of new people. Our guide, Sebastian, made the experience even better with his passion and knowledge about Colombia. He was always happy to answer my questions, whether it was about history, culture, or food, and his enthusiasm really shone through. I truly enjoyed learning from him while exploring the natural beauty of the lagoon and the incredible architecture of the cathedral. A special thanks also to our driver, Jesus, who provided safe and comfortable rides all day. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that I would highly recommend if you want to go to 2 sightseeings in a day.

A very well spent day The visit to Guatavita Lagoon was excellent with a formidable local guide. The Cathedral of Salt is pretty but I think it is overrated when they say it is the first wonder of Colombia, here I found it was not so good, the guide simply dropped us at the entrance with audioguides and left.
