2D1N Mount Kinabalu Climbing

The 2D1N climb is very tough, lucky I have a very good mountain guide and weather, it makes my life dream real, thanks to my mountain guide Sam!

My husband and I booked our 2D1N adventure with Borneo Calling. What a once-in-a-lifetime experience it was! We were blessed to have been assigned to Suki, our guide. He was very patient, compassionate and had a wicked sense of humor. He stayed with me throughout the entire hike, helping me to climb up the rocks, as this was my first time mountaineering. Suki was very experienced-- he was able to literally leap over the rocks, so much so that I gave him a nickname-- Mountain GOAT (Greatest of All Time!). During the summit attack, he motivated me and guided me through the darkness, especially during the ropes section when I was quite scared. Unfortunately, my husband I were unable to reach the summit as it started to rain and a flash flood warning was issued. During the descent on the second day, my legs felt very wobbly and my knees were hurting. I had to stop and to be carried down on the porter's back. Suki carried me for some of the distance. He was very fast and made me feel very secure on his back. He got me safely to Timpohon Gate. It was a fun and very memorable trip. Although we didn't summit, it was still an interesting experience. The change in altitude and weather takes some adjustment, but for my first time mountaineering, it was breathtaking. Our room at the Panalaban hostel was cozy, although I wish we had hot water! Met some great roommates and we exchanged our WhatsApp numbers. The food was pretty good, too. Tasty and provided enough carbs to keep us going.
