The tour consisted of a general tour of Sintra with a taste of the famous sweets(Queijada was one of them), two palaces (Quinta Da Regaleira and Pena Palace) and a visit to a beachside restaurant for lunch in between the tour of palaces. Had the famous green wine of Portugal during lunch. Vicente (our tour guide) was very thoughtful during the whole tour, especially while walking through the steep hills. The two palaces were very different. The first one belonged to a very rich coffee merchant. It reminded me of the rich houses in Newport. The Pena Palace was the residence of the royal family. The impact of Moorish and gothic architecture could be seen in both of them.

We had an amazing experience with Ana on our private tour of Sintra. She is extremely knowledgeable and a wonderful conversationalist. We learned so much about Portuguese history and culture, in addition to all the details of the palaces and mansions we visited. She was incredibly flexible and accommodating as well - we made some stops for delicious breakfasts and right down to the beach to tip our toes in the Atlantic. She was very helpful and just amazing. The day was a highlight of our trip to Lisbon - and we have some of most stunning photos! Ask for Ana on your tour to ensure the best experience ever!!!
