Hampton Court Palace is a tale of two palaces: a grand Tudor palace originally built by Cardinal Wolsey before being developed by Henry VIII. Dovetailing with the Tudor splendour is the Baroque palace designed by Sir Christopher Wren for William III and Mary II in the 17th century. Visitors can immerse themselves in the vast Tudor Kitchens where Henry VIII's banquets were prepared. Climb the stairs into the magnificent Great Hall and Tudor State Apartments, gaze down to the Chapel Royal from the Royal Pew. Venture into the enormous Queen's State Apartments in the Georgian Palace and finish in the 17th Century in William III's Baroque masterpiece, overlooking the splendid gardens.

    Flamboyant Henry VIII is most associated with this majestic palace, which he extended and developed after acquiring it in the 1520s. The palace's many royal occupants have ensured the palace has fabulous furnishings, tapestries and paintings. It is set in beautiful formal gardens, which include the famous maze and the Great Vine. Hampton Court has a designated Family Room, where parents and young children are invited to take a rest from the bustle of the palace. The play equipment is suitable for children aged under five. Family Trails guiding children around the palace are available at the Information Center. The palace is pushchair friendly and a lift is available if you'd like to access the upper floor without using the stairs.     Brilliant day spent at Hampton court palace. Thanks to the excellent information on the website, we know exactly what to expect in terms of accessibility with a mobility scooter, right down to the maximum size they could accommodate. Staff were quick to point out the route to us that avoided the cobblestones! A blessing when you're on a scooter! All the staff were helpful and knowledgeable. Nothing was any trouble. The displays were amazing. The free audio tour was made accessible to all by having one suitable for children or those who did not want very in depth information, and the other containing more detailed information. The live actors added that extra touch of fun to the day whilst imparting knowledge of past times. The gardens were beyond stunning and again there were plenty of knowledgeable staff around to point us in the right direction and answer questions about the gardens. The staff are truly an asset to the palace. We would really recommend this for a day out.

    This wonderful place is an incredible walk through history with not only the beauty of the Tudor and Baroque palace itself and its stunning gardens but with also so much to learn about the history seeping through its walls. I will say that without using the free audio guide headset, you could just be wandering around a palace a bit clueless. But with the audio guide, there is so much to learn from every bit of the palace. I had always assumed that the palace was solely built in the Tudor period by Henry VIII so I was interested to learn that the newer Baroque part was built by William III. Sir Christopher Wren had wanted the Tudor part knocked down - Can you imagine!!! House, gardens, food, the maze and the staff all were amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful visit. Thoroughly recommended for a fab day out for all ages!

    Truely beautiful building just steeped in history. So well preserved in time. Wonderful atmosphere you can feel the history as you go around the palace. Some stunning architecture on display. There is so much to see and take in that you cannot possibly do it in one visit. I myself will be back sooner rather than later The staff are very well educated on everything within the palace and questions should be asked. Do not forget William III apartments. Conservation work is going on constantly and it shows. You have to go into the maze. Oldest one I n England and still the best.
