Shuttle from JFK to hotel was an hour late arriving. We were the last on to a crowded van.
Transport back from our hotel to JFK was an hour late, followed by an interminable ride along Queens Blvd. with a bad-tempered driver.
My advice: take the air train from JFK, then the Long Island Railroad to Penn Station, then a taxi from there to your hotel. It will be way cheaper and take less time.
New York City has not managed to develop a speedy transit system from the city to its airports. No high-speed trains. Getting there by car is awful.
It made our drive from Heathrow home an absolutely blissful experience of well thought-out transit systems.
