Start to finish awful experience. Would not recommend to my worst enemy. Tour guides were rude, disorganised and agency didn’t buy us tickets to Machu Picchu! The entire tour was done through text message. When booking, the description states we would get a visit from our tour guide the day before we leave to go over the itinerary and receive our tickets. We received a message from the agency with the itinerary and when I asked for the tickets I was ignored. Firstly the tour had 21 people when it should have been a max of 15 (including two crying infant children - cried all day!). The bus was cramped and the driver drove extremely irresponsibly, I have a bruise on my shoulder and knee from the handle smashing into me for 5/6 hours. We had to make our own way to the train station as the first guide was clearly paid for the first day and not to accompany us to Machu Picchu (Seperate tour). The guide meeting us at the train station didn’t speak any English. We waited for a collective of 5 hours in queue. Throughout the two days when I asked why we were queuing, I was ignored by the agency and guides. When I pushed the agency for an answer, they told us it was the only way we would get into Machu Picchu, after speaking to other people in Machu Picchu that day, it was a clear blatant lie. Other people did not have to wait in line as their tour companies had bought the tickets online, the tour company obviously did not buy the tickets and made us sit in line to fix their mistake. We were told to wake up at 6 am to get into a queue that we did not need to be at till 8:30, (not getting tickets till 9 - missing our hotel breakfast), after queuing for 2 hours the day before just to register ourselves (something the tour company should have done months ago when we booked this tour!) When our separate guide for Machu Picchu (over 2 days had 4 guides, only two of whom spoke minimal English) met us at the mountain, he said he wanted to go to the bathroom, we told him we would wait for him in line (not wanting to wait for the line to get longer after waiting 5 hrs total already), as we waited he approached us, was extremely rude and told us he would not be our guide. We therefore had to go into Machu Picchu alone. Experience was tainted as I had the other guides messaging telling us we should have waited in a longer line as we had plenty of time because there was good weather (it rained and we had to leave Machu Picchu after two hours) - at the start we were told we would have 2hr 30 mins guided tour and another half an hour of free time. This was cut down to 2hrs in total, half an hour of which I spent messaging the agency so that they could organise another guide for us. Worst two days of my life, ruined my experience and I am appalled at the treatment we endured over the past two days. Would have cost less to do it alone and also a lot less rude and stressful interactions. TERRIBLE.

1. They did not buy entrance ticket in advance so had to queue for 5 hours. We were sent to reserve our tickets as soon as we got off the train on day 1 (2hr queue), then had to wake up at 6am to actually get our tickets. We arrived on the morning of day 2 to find out that you reserve your space in the queue as soon as you get off the train so we did not need to queue, but our guide had insisted we should be there for when they start handing out tickets, 6 am. We were number 317/318 so had to wait for 3 hours that morning unnecessarily. When we compared our ticket buying experience with other people at the park they had not had to reserve their ticket the night before nor queue the morning of entering the park, meaning we queued unnecessarily for 5hrs. The service lied to us and said this was the only way to buy tickets.
2. No consistent guide throughout the whole trip so only had text instructions when navigating trains and buses, and reserving tickets so might as well have booked it all myself.
3. Our guide for the park declined to show us around as we asked if we could enter the park as soon as we arrived there rather than waiting as the queue was growing to enter. He was then very rude to us and shrugged us off so we entered the park without a guide.
4. Itinerary sent did not match the actual sequence of events, for example we entered the park at 11:30 alone when we were told it would be at 9 (because we had to reserve our own tickets). We were only allocated 2 hrs in the park when we were promised 3 hrs.
5. Clearly they had organised the trip the day before we set off which is why they did not send itinerary until evening before the trip despite constant request. They booked us on someone else's tour for day 1, they had instructions to drop us off at the train station, then we had to navigate the train, bus ticket and unnecessary ticket reservation instructions over text from a 'guide' who did not want to come to organise the ticket process, despite us requesting them too. We were communicating with 4 'guides' at one point to bring clarity to the ticket reservation process, none of which were helpful or understanding or had any knowledge of eachother.
AWFUL AWFUL EXPERIENCE WITH UNHELPFUL STAFF MEMBERS. WOULD RATHER HAVE BOOKED IT ALL MYSELF.
AT THIS PRICE YOU WOULD EXPECT AN ORGANISED AND SMOOTH PROCESS. THIS COULD NOT HAVE BEEN FURTHER FROM WHAT WE EXPERIENCED.
