Due to staying in Mexico for a couple holiday I was recommended by friends at home to visit Coco Bongo. The hype had made me book some regular tickets for my partner and I though our hotel. We booked for a Tuesday in hopes that it wouldn’t be too busy. Oh were we wrong!
Our transportation had picked us up from our hotel at 9:15pm. They did not announce themselves on our arrival and the bus was not marked so we had no idea that transport was for us until we approached and asked ourselves which wasn’t that much of an issue. The bus itself though was very gross. It was clearly and old transportation coach which did not look clean in the slightest and had a slight mouldy look to it. Nonetheless it took us where we needed to go. Staff on the bus walked us to the venue and said we needed to be back for 2:50 in the morning to get back or we’d have to get a taxi. Again no issues but a part from that they gave us no further information and we were put in a queue of hundreds of people. The queue by the way was wrong and after waiting a long while we got to the front of the queue to be told we were in the wrong line and were sent to a different queue and waiting around another hour to get in.
Finally we were in the venue and immediately the music blared, bass banging and it was a very chaotic unorganised mess. We had a normal regular ticket which we were told included some seating. This was a lie. We were crammed into a small square dance floor squished in like sardines with hundreds of others. It was my nightmare.
The show itself is not a show. It is advertised as an amazing show better than vegas with acrobatic performances and over 40 artists performing. This is completely untrue. There were no acrobatics and the only “show” was 5 minutes of sleazy sexualised dancing to a song before they disappeared again for 30 minutes. During which the music was crazy, people were trying to somewhat dance but due to being so crammed in you were getting bumped and bashed left right an centre.
The staff would try and give you whatever random drinks they had on their trays but the drinks were watered down like anything. They have a platform in The centre where they invite young attractive females up from the crowd to dance provocatively in their little mini skirts before blasting air up their skirts to reveal their underwear. Don’t get me wrong the females didn’t seem to have an issue with it but it was very gross and sleazy. There were people of all ages there but you could tell some of the older guests weren’t impressed and people started to leave very quickly.
Overall it was an awful experience but would be perfect if you wanted to pay around £70 per person to dance in an over crowded club and see woman’s bums out. I would not recommend nor attend ever again.
