    Starting from Funchal trought Câmara de Lobos, on our way to Ribeira Brava we are going to travel trougth the old roads.

    We start in the southwestern coast , and have a stop for a drink, after we will continue our way up until the plateau to 1500m altitude were we will be above the clouds.

  • Porto Moniz Natural Swimming Pools, Porto Moniz, Portugal
    like in the aircraft :). Here we are going to stop for Lunch and take a bath in the natural vulcanic swiming pools. After our lunch we will drive along the northen coast villages and our guides will showcasing amazing sea cliffs with lush vegetation, among them you will see some of the best waterfalls on the island.

This private tour of the western side of Madeira was absolutely the highlight of our trip to Portugal! Our guide, John, was fantastic—his deep knowledge of the island and genuine passion for its beauty and history made the day unforgettable. As two women traveling alone, we also felt very safe and comfortable the entire time, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Our day with John was incredible! He was a ton of fun and made sure we had a blast too. This tour may be more expensive than some of the group tours, but I promise it is worth it! We had such a fun day seeing the west side of the island that we wanted to book a tour for the East side on our final day, but the weather wasn’t going to cooperate unfortunately. When we return to Madeira we will definitely be booking with John again!

We spent two wonderful days exploring the island with Madeira Off-Road Tours. John, our driver was great fun and very knowledgeable about the history and botany of the island. He took us to where we could see fabulous views, sample the islands liquors and eat our lunch in two wonderful restaurants over looking the sea. We went up and down very steep and, at times, hair-raising tracks but felt very safe with John. Nothing was too much trouble. My husband usually does all the driving when we go on holiday, so it was lovely for him to be able to relax and really enjoy the scenery in the hands of a very experienced local driver, negotiating the many hairpin bends and narrow roads with ease. Thank you John for making our holiday in Madeira such a memorable and enjoyable one. 'Yahoo!'
