Ellin is a friendly, gracious and extremely knowledgeable person about all things Lyon. While this is advertised as a food tour you experience much more than food samples. We learned about the origins of croissants, the origins and meaning of Michelin stars, the Lyonnaise tradition of using local ingredients, sharing food, and utilizing the entire animal in their recipes. We visited taboules, learned their purpose-take the tour and find out, and sampled several local specialties, shared wine and cheese as well as lunch at a bouchon containing items I have never tasted before. We also learned about Paul Bocuse and visited a church with a clock from the 16th century that shows not just the sun but also the moon’s positions. All in all it was an excellent tour and I highly recommend you take it. I guarantee you will learn something you really didn’t know.
