We joined this food tour in Venice on 1 April, hoping for an authentic, behind-the-scenes culinary experience. While our guide was kind and reasonably knowledgeable, the tour overall didn’t quite live up to our expectations.
The first two stops had a nice mix of local flavour and historical context, but starting with seafood may not suit everyone. After that, the experience felt a bit disjointed – lots of walking with limited commentary, and the lunch stop was underwhelming. The lasagne lacked flavour and quality, which was disappointing.
The gelato came from a chain we later saw multiple times around the city, and while the tiramisù demonstration was interesting, we enjoyed better versions elsewhere during our stay. We were hoping for something more immersive, with exceptional food from small, authentic, family-run spots.
It wasn’t a terrible experience, but it didn’t quite deliver the depth or quality we’ve come to appreciate from food tours in other destinations. Hopefully, some small tweaks could make this a more memorable and meaningful experience in future.
