The Salzburg Marionette Theatre is definitely worth a visit for young and old. Already in the entrance hall and also in the passageway to the theatre hall, you can learn a lot of interesting facts about the creation or production and the history of the puppets, can also admire them on site (partly behind glass).
The short version of the Magic Flute definitely benefits the younger visitors, whose attention span is rather shorter, but of course also "impatient" tourists .
Particularly impressive is the beginning of the play, where during the overture the (still) visible "puppeteers" set up the scenery and move the puppets into position, before the black curtains only release the stage design and puppets. This gives the audience an approximate impression of how such a performance (by human hand) comes about.
