This family owned Winery welcomed our group of 9 at the end of a day of visiting San Gimignano and Siena via vans. We were greeted warmly and ushered into an authentic wince cellar room for our tasting of 10+ wines. Before each person was a plate piled high with meats and cheeses to accompany the wine tasting. Since we thought that the bountiful plate would be all the food we would receive, we all were overwhelmed by the owner's generosity when a white truffle lasagna was served later in the tasting. Needless to say, none of us needed dinner that evening! This is a top-notch winery with superb wines! We were fortunate to arrange a local tasting here in our city in November 2022. Since they sell only to individuals, we continue to order from them each year!

A FIVE STAR Experience! Luigi made this experience with his personality, charm, humor, knowledge and experience of the wines paired with the delicious food we ate. For starters a small plate of bread, meat and cheese with local olive oil and balsamic paired with four different wines. Followed by a local traditional soup with a spicy olive oil paired with a wine that enhanced the flavor of the dish. Next was a family lasagna recipe paired with three additional wines which was absolutely delicious and a truffle olive oil you don’t want to miss. If that wasn’t enough, the main dish was a slow roasted pork loin with roasted potatoes and of course, more wine! Dessert biscuits were homemade biscotti and an amazing Rosé. An experience of a lifetime! Be sure to ask Luigi to sing a song as it just enhanced the day!
Wine Tasting at Tenuta Torciano...well it wasn't just wine that we tasted.
There was first the tasting of Tuscany’s San Gimignano countryside, which no photograph could possibly capture, manicured with lush vegetables, grapevines, and olive trees.
Next was the welcome, like coming back for that summer visit at your grandparents’ farm. Paolo drove us around the grounds so we could take a peek at the work that goes on year round, to witness their love for their 300 year old winery, what they are able to produce, and their stewardship toward our earth’s treasures because of their great desire that this will endure.
Next taste was the winery’s settings for the many experiences you can choose to take in –lunch in the garden, cheese & wine tasting, a traditional Fiorentina steak & wine dinner, cooking classes, a romantic lunch in the vineyard, grape & olive harvesting, truffle hunting, archery, olive oil tasting, helicopter wine tour - so many opportunities, such timeless surroundings.
We then entered in to the wine tasting room, tables elegantly set with an array of wine glasses. We were seated and met their other guests who came from a variety of countries around the world. Lillo introduced us to many of their wines, explaining to us the history, the processes, & the procedures in making such great flavors.
Lila kept us supplied with a wonderful array of freshly made foods prepared with ingredients from their gardens following beloved recipes passed down through the generations: trays of coldcuts, cheeses, bread, the BEST bruschetta I have ever tasted – made by Massimo, ribollita soup which I had so wanted to try – and I was not disappointed!, and their Grandmama’s lasagna with a drizzle of their own truffle oil on top. Melany and Ida popped in to say hi.
There was so much JOY in meeting each of them who we had shared Friday evening zoom cooking classes with throughout 2020.
But we weren’t finished yet. Lendi and Stephano brought us to the olive groves, learning more about the importance of rescuing the olive trees, and to meet our own adopted olive tree. From there they drove us around to enjoy the incredible countryside.
Ours was just a day trip, chock full of all the warmth & welcome of a family reunion. If your schedule allows more time, you can relax and rest in the San Gimignano countryside at the Torciano Hotel.
Don’t miss this unique and refreshing opportunity.
