Little did we know when my husband and myself booked Manfred: A Friend in Heidelberg, that we were about to spend an enjoyable day truly immersed in the history, beauty, and joy of the Heidelberg area. Manfred was incredibly attentive to all of our emails and texts prior to our visit —he even came to our Viking boat in Mannheim early to confirm the exact port and departure time, and to personally introduce himself to the Viking staff.
On the day of our tour, he picked us up directly from the ship and later returned us to our Viking ship that had moved up river to Speyer, ensuring everything went seamlessly.
Our exploration unfolded at a relaxed, comfortable pace that suited myself and my husband perfectly. We visited both Heidelberg Castle and Dilsberg Castle, wandered through the old town, and explored charming small towns and the surrounding countryside. Manfred shared historical information in easily digestible portions that captivated our interest.
One of the highlights was enjoying a traditional German dinner at a local monastery, where both the service and the food were exceptional—thanks to Manfred’s strong connections in the community.
When you hire a local guide who has deep roots and real relationships in the area, you know you’re in good hands—and that you're getting the best possible experience.
We certainly found all of this during our time with Manfred. He is personable, knowledgeable and attentive. After Manfred departed, we felt we had spent the day with a close friend. We both couldn’t have been more pleased.
