The name of Manfred’s business, “A Friend in Heidelberg”, is an entirely accurate name. My wife and I were vacationing in Western Germany, and wanted a guide familiar with Heidelberg to take us around. Even ahead of the tour, Manfred and I texted several times, and he immediately took a friendly interest in us, and gauged what we wanted from our tour. On the tour day, he met us at our hotel in Mannheim, and was a smiling and comfortable presence.
We stopped in Weinheim for a coffee and a croissant, and then moved on to Heidelberg. Our interest was in seeing the old town and the old bridge. I had visited the castle once before, and my wife didn’t have interest, so we wanted to stay in the town, see the sights, have lunch and explore the shops. My wife and I speak very little German, so it was useful to have a bilingual guide who also knew Heidelberg well (as well as being able to navigate the streets and drive us around). Manfred guided us through the streets, we had a nice tour of a beautiful city, we had an excellent lunch, and Manfred delivered us back to our hotel. What more can you ask of from a friend?
