We were traveling with 4 adults. And 3 kids. Ages ranged from 72 to 2! And Manfried was great from the start. We needed flexibility and guidance and he did all of those things. Even from being a phone call away at the airport because we needed help finding our driver after the long flight. He was very upfront in his services and was so friendly and informative about all things Germany. We did the “wing it” approach for 2 days. We wanted to be taken out of heildburg for both days and he was able to give us the perfect mix for adults and the kids! What I really appreciated was his flexibility and understanding with the kids moods and interests while keeping the adults interested in different facts about Germany’s and fun stories. Even with stopping at playground along the way ! We really felt comfortable with him and would 100% recommend if going to heildburg.
My wife loves Christmas markets. She travels to Germany for work and when it aligns with the holiday season, I'm asked if I'd like to join her for a long weekend. We took a quick trip to Frankfurt in early December 2025, and were able to schedule a day of touring with Manfred.
When Manfred picked us up at our hotel we sat down and discussed the plan for the day. He laid out a plan to visit the markets in several areas to experience as much as we could in our time together. We stayed within an hour or so of Frankfurt, visiting three beautiful places over the course of the day.
We started in Kronberg where we experienced small town charm with very friendly locals. We tried some raclette with mushrooms for breakfast and had a conversation with several locals, including a doctor working for his charity during the market. We then explored the castle and its many vendors of ornaments, jewelry and food. Near the top of the castle was a lovely art studio we admired and talked to some local artists and the curator. Kronberg was an amazing start to the tour day.
We then headed to Mainz, a larger town with a much larger market. It was later in the day and definitely much busier with people enjoying the market. We enjoyed listening to some Christmas music from a local band, did a little shopping and had some gluhwein and snacks along the way.
Our final stop was Hochheim am Main, a smaller town with a smaller market but still very lively! We met several new groups of people sharing tables for dinner. The smaller streets seemed more intimate and the indoor shops displayed beautiful handmade ornaments, mittens, candles and more.
If you enjoy food and drink, my personal belief is that the Christmas Markets are the best places in the world to try German specialties! My wife and I enjoyed all of the following and probably more that I've forgotten - gluhwein, mispelchen (a Frankfurt specialty!), apfelwein, raclette, kartoffelpuffer, candied nuts, lebkuchen, flammkuchen, crepes, stollen, spatzle, and all of the amazing variety of wurst (brat, kase, curry, and more!)
Manfred is a consummate professional - he was cheerful, knowledgeable and engaging for the entirety of our time together. He helped us mingle with the locals, recommended new-to-us food and drinks, and shared his knowledge of the history of each location as we spent time walking through. He's an extremely safe driver and we even got to experience the thrill of the autobahn, getting up to 200kph! If you're going to spend any time in or around Heidelberg or Frankfurt you cannot go wrong to book with Manfred!
Ich hatte Herrn Pitz für ein ehemaligen Treffen meines Internats angefragt. Im Planungsgespräch ist dann herausgekommen, dass Herr Pitz eigentlich nicht der optimale Ansprechpartner für das ist was wir vorhatten. Daraufhin hat er sich rührend um Ersatz gekümmert. Hat verschiedene Kolleginnen und Kollegen in Heidelberg angesprochen und hat so für mich einen sehr guten Personal Guide gefunden, mit dem ich in der Lage war ein tolles Ausflug Programm zusammenzustellen. Ich kann also nichts über die Qualität von Herrn Pitz als Guide sagen. Was ich aber sagen kann ist, dass ich diesen Service Gedanken den Kunden auch zu betreuen, selbst wenn man kein Geld mit ihm verdient. Hervorragend finde und ich kann mir nicht vorstellen, dass jemand der eine solche Geschäftsphilosophie verfolgt ein schlechtes Angebot macht. Da würde ich Herrn Pitz uneingeschränkt empfehlen.
