The stops are all but impossible to find. We asked two bus drivers where to find the boat stop; one told me to get off the bus and the other said it was “over there.”

This was the worst Hop-On Hop-Off experience we’ve ever had. The tour includes only 8 stops, and some are poorly placed. For example, the stop for the Anne Frank House is nearly 1 km away—definitely not convenient if you’re expecting easy access. The “free diamond tour” they advertise is just a long sales pitch. You end up spending a significant amount of time at Gassan Diamonds, and it’s clear they’re compensated for bringing tourists in. It felt more like a commission-based detour than a genuine attraction. Overall, it was a frustrating and disappointing experience. There are much better and more efficient ways to see Amsterdam.

I have done a handful of these tours, and this unfortunately was the most disappointing hop on hop off. The bus headset connections (and we tried 3 different ports) were terrible, no sound, sound not adjustable and was at full blast, and you have to reach over strangers to plug in your headset instead of the port being directly in front of you. However, the canal boat ride was beautiful! In hindsight I should have opted for a canal only tour.
