Join your host Putu in her kitchen for a private, hands-on cooking class. Unlike many other TripAdvisor tours, this is a private experience. You and your host will prepare 2-3 authentic Balinese dishes. As you chop, grind and grill, Putu will teach you about the spices she uses in her family recipes as well as the medicinal qualities of Balinese ingredients. Putu's kitchen is simple, with only a two-burner cooktop but you will be impressed by the speed and fluidity with which she prepares a complex menu with multiple dishes. You will taste a variety of authentic dishes with potential ones being Putu’s grilled eggplant with tomato, grilled fish with Balinese sambal (chili sauce), a curry dish (either chicken, fish or vegetarian) or perhaps a variety of pepes (foods seasoned with local spices, wrapped in banana leaves and steamed). You can expect the cooking lesson to last about 1-2 hours before you sit down and enjoy the delicious meal you helped prepare with your host and her family.

    My partner and I had a beautiful time with Putu! Putu is an amazing chef and host. We cooked lots of dishes and learnt about balancing flavours. We also did a tour of her family compound and farm which was so special. Putu picked us up and dropped us back off to our accomdation making our day all the more easier. Can not recommend this class more! It was the highlight of our holiday. Thank you so much Putu! We can't wait to try out the recipes at home.

    This class was really fun. We learnt about Balinese culture as well as how to make some delicious food. The facilities were very good. We were right in a traditional Balinese home with views into the jungle. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Don’t miss the chance to share in Balinese culture.

    We were very kindly received personally by Putu. First she showed her house and family temples, and explained which temple/building is for what. We also got a short tour of her backyard, where she grows all the ingredients herself. She takes the time to explain everything and has a lot of patience to answer questions. During cooking she also has a lot of patience to assist and to name and explain all the steps and ingredients. Putu is very friendly and has a good sense of humor. It was very nice to talk to her about Bali, and she was also very interested to hear about where we come from. For the low price she asks for it, Putu's cooking class is really highly recommended if you are interested in traditional Balinese dishes and the (local) Balinese culture.
