This is a not-to-miss experience if you enjoy coffee and/or chocolate. Even if you prefer tea to coffee the tastings may surprise you! Our guide, Lina, taught us so much in two and a half hours about the coffee and chocolate trades in Colombia. We learned the history of how the artisanal coffee scene got established in the country, the different coffee growing regions and how they affect the body and flavors of the coffees grown there, and a relationship between coffee and chocolate flavors.
The tastings themselves helped me to learn so much about how to discover the flavors in artisan coffees and chocolates (don’t try this with diner coffee and a Hershey’s bar), similar to tasting wines.
Lina even gave us restaurant recommendations (since the tour begins in the Gastronomy Zone) for afterwards. We walked to one, Chicheria Demente, and had dinner there - also a wonderful experience!
