The Strudel is a typical Habsburg-Empire dessert, but it can be originated to the Turkish influence in Hungary. It is an essential part of the wedding dinner in the countryside. I use my mother’s recipe who makes the stretched version. This Strudel pastry is elastic, very thin and it is stretched by the hand. We make sweet and salty Strudel as well. Where I grew up, there were some typical fillings: poppy-seed with pumpkin, sweet or salty cabbage and sweet cottage cheese cream. Now you can make these on my special baking course. Come and join my culinary experience, learn about my family tricks and at the end of the course enjoy the result of your efforts.

The perfect way to learn how to make strudel from scratch. Marti was very informative and shared many stories about traditional Hungarian cooking, ingredients and customs. It was a wonderful experience with hand-stretched strudels, tasty snacks and wine. I would highly recommend this cooking class when you visit Budapest. Thank you, Marti!

Die Erfahrung war einmalig und originell. Die Strudel haben unglaublich gut geschmeckt und vor allem noch besser weil man sie selber gemacht hat. Der Backkurs ist nur zu empfehlen.

The one thing I wanted to do on my first visit to Budapest was to learn how to make strudel for my 91 year old Hungarian Dad. I was so happy to find Marti's class. And I was not disappointed! Marti is kind and patient in her teaching. Her hands on approach allows everyone to touch the ingredients as well as participate in the preparation. Learning the family history of strudel making helps bring it even more alive! It reminded me of the stories Dad told us of his mom while growing up. The instructions were easy to follow, the ingredients basic to find, and Marti's guidance made it easy to do. The strudel was amazing - both the aroma while baking and the taste when done. And by the time I got back to my apartment I had received an email with an assortment of recipes for different strudels to make at home. From start to finish the experience was wonderful! Marti is a beautiful host! From homemade soft drinks, an experienced and informative hands on tutorial, Hungarian wine and snacks, to enjoying the finished product, every moment is delicious and fun! I would highly recommend this experience to anyone wanting to learn more about the Hungarian culture and it's foods! Definitely a bucket list moment in my life! Thank you Marti!
