Private Cooking Class with Dinner & Pick Up from Sorrento

We love taking cooking classes when on vacation and this was one of our best experiences! We are amateur cooks with a pizza oven at home and still lots to learn. Chef Vincenzo was fantastic, sharing many tips and ideas that we can’t wait to try on our own. The tour of the property, the actual class and then eating all of the food we helped make was a highlight of our vacation. The outdoor kitchen, pizza oven and overall set up was special and unique. We took the pizza and pasta masterclass- it was very hands on with chef Enzo sharing information and ideas during the entire process. We made pizza, pasta, bolognese, tiramisu and limoncello. The owner was there to welcome us and spend time chatting with us before and after. We felt very welcome and hope to return again in the future. The entire experience was top notch!

This was the best thing we did in Italy! Anna showed us each step of every dish then stepped back and coached us through it on our own. The food was nothing short of amazing and so plentiful we couldn’t finish the meal. We enjoyed the gardens and orchards while she made preparations. Before the end of the night, the owner, Fabio joined us at the table and proved to be an amazing host.

My family of 6 adults each paid $140 for Chez Barone's cooking class, 5-9 PM on a Tuesday. Pros: Van pick up from main piazza in Sorrento and return post class, Good Chef and Sous Chef, very pleasant and knowledgeable, beautiful ambiance and surroundings (we were in the outside cooking tent, she cooked in the outside kitchen, both very nice). Cons: IMO, very overpriced for what we received -- we arrived at 5 pm and were given a champagne class of Prosecco but NO APPETIZERS. We then had to, of course, prepare all of our own food -- fried pizza, 5 little raviolis, one braciola, and limoncello tiramisu (cold have done without fried pizza). Of course, all of this takes time, so we did not eat until 8 PM! If this is how they are going to conduct their classes, they have to let their customers know. By the time we sat down to eat, I was not a happy customer. Their food costs are minimal (I am a former personal chef and devoted home cook), so for $140 they can afford to offer a few appetizers upon arrival. A small capers salad would have been most welcome and certainly not cost Mr. Barone a lot of money.
