The tour of the ruins in Ephesus was amazing. In addition, we were also taken to Mira Kuyumculuk/Raffi Jeweler, a merchant who sold Turkish rugs and jewelry. We were assured by our Globus Travel tour guide that the merchant was reputable and that Globus would stand behind any merchant they took us to. NOT SO.
I and another traveler purchased a gold Sultanite ring there that needed to be sized larger. We paid for our rings with credit cards. When they were delivered to us just before we got on the ship, they were actually smaller. We asked for a refund to our credit card. They took our cards and "processed" the credit on a portable card machine. However, they did not give us a paper confirmation.
They assured us the charge would be reflected in our account in two days.
The charge showed up on my credit card on November 5, 2019, the same day I purchased it. In the past two months I have made numerous calls and sent emails to Globus and Celestyal Cruises. The Globus tour guide even sent me a copy of a document which was supposed to be showing that the jeweler had requested a refund. However, I was not able to read the Turkish language. Also the jeweler left a message on my phone saying the refund would be credited on Nov 22.
As of this date, 2 months later, the jeweler has still not refunded the money to my account!
I have disputed the charge with my credit card company. The credit card company contacted the jeweler, but the jeweler never responded. The credit card company has reversed the charges. But I will never get back all the time, energy, and frustration I have wasted on this ordeal.
And I will never travel with Globus again.
