This was probably the best chocolate experience I’ve done, even after having traveled to Europe. Most chocolate tours I’ve been on talk you through the process of making chocolate, then you are presented with a bunch of chocolates that you can buy. This tour was different in that you start in the actual field, picking some of the cocoa pods from the tree. Sandra, who makes the chocolate, takes you through every step of the process and you do most of the work! You pick the pods, dig out the seed s (you can eat the pulp around the seed and it’s actually pretty good!), roast them, peel the cocoa beans with a Sandra and her mother, then decide how much sugar to add to your chocolate. You’ll have to do the tour to know the rest of the process! Yuly was my guide for the day and took me out to the farm and she was fantastic to converse with and exchange information about our countries. Her outgoing personality made the tour so much better!
