I loved this tour! It was a great intro of the local foods, from Lutenitsa - a homemade canned mix of tomato sauce and red peppers on bread, to Banitsa - flaky pastry filled with Bulgarian goat cheese and butter. Our guide Iliya taught us so much about all of these dishes, as well as local life and traditions. You will even have the opportunity to buy tea that is credited with the locals in a nearby mountain village with living to 100+! We finished off the afternoon with a seated tasting in a restaurant with Bulgarian red wine and rakia which was the perfect end to the afternoon. (We signed up for a private tour for 2 people since we weren’t available the day of the normal tour.) Definitely will book with Iliya and Danny again if I find myself back in Plovdiv!
