During this walking tour through the Jewish Quarter of Budapest you will get a better understanding of the Hungarian holocaust. The guide shows you the most important places while he tells you more about the Jewish history.
About the tour
This tour will start in the Dohány Street Synagogue, also known as the Great Synagogue. When you enter the biggest synagogue of Europe you will be amazed by the outstanding interior, which gives the impression of a Catholic church.
The tour will be continued to the Jewish museum, the local guide will tell you more about the traditions, holidays and the everyday life of Judaism. The guide will also show you the impressive Martyrs' cemetery, where people who were killed during WWII are buried. In the Raoul Wallenberg Memorial Park you will find the Tree of Life, a monument with all the names of Hungarian Jews who didn't survive the holocaust.
After the tour you will receive an entrance ticket for The Jewish Centre, at this place you can have a look at the Jewish Hungarian Archives. The tickets will be valid for the next 24 hours (one entry) , this gives you the possibility to visit the archives the next day.
