Discover Chianti Rufina, the smallest wine area in Chianti! A historic wine-producing area, one of the most important in Tuscany, located to the northeast of the city of Florence, on the slopes of the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines.
The first historical evidence of wine production in the Rufina area dates back to the early fifteenth century. The famous Medici family identified a particular aptitude for the production of great wines in this area. In 1716 Cosimo III de Medici included Chianti Rufina in the 'Bando dei Vini', the first world law regulating wine.
Gain in-depth knowledge about a well-reputed and historical wine area, which can be shortly regarded as small but mighty. Wine has been produced in the Chianti Rufina region since Etruscan times.

Fattoria Lavacchio, Pontassieve, Italy This boutique winery has been run since 1700 when it was built by Peruzzi family, so famed that it was quoted by Dante in the Divine Comedy. In the 19th century it passed to Marquis Strozzi Sacrati of Mantua and finally in 1978 to the current Genoese owners, Lottero family, who undertook a complete restoration and planted vines, olive trees and refurbished the villas. It has been the first winery in the Chianti Rufina region to join organic production. The company boasts a production of wine, olive oil, wheat and green garden products, namely fruits and vegetables. They combine old handcraft with the most modern biodynamic techniques. The symbol of the farm is a centuries-old cedar of Lebanon, representing the strength and longevity of noble family dynasties. The "old spirit" of the estate is kindled by the restored windmill dating back to the 19th century. You will serve lunch have your wine tasting on the terrace of the farm's restaurant overlooking a landscape full of charm.

Tenuta di Bossi, Pontassieve, Italy The first winery, owned by the Gondi family since 1592, has always been famous for its wine. It is located on the hills of Florence, in the heart of Chianti Rufina, a wine-growing area famous since the Etruscan era. It lies at 200 and 400 meters above sea level. The estate has 315 hectares of which 19 of vineyards, 32 of olive groves and the rest are cereals and woods. The family has always believed in the local territory and the specificity of the Chianti Rufina wines due to the high altitudes of the region. They carry on the family tradition trying to maintain what their ancestors have done: preserve the integrity and beauty of the local environment following the philosophy that has always distinguished Tenuta Bossi, the continuous research for the highest quality products. Here, the winery's vignerons mold grapes into wines with unique character.
