Kutch has wealth of handicrafts. Nirona village - 60 km from Dhordo. Three unique local Art - one made its way to the White House. Rogan Art a legacy of Art form for past 300 yrs by family at Nirona. Rogan is a Persian word means `oil based` natural colour & Castor Oil. Artisans uses six inch metal stick to paint with fine thread of Rogan on cloth. Seing it live makes us realise how delicately the rogan thread has to be lead with precision to give shape to one`s imagination.
Next is Luhars of Nirona and their popular Copper Bell art. Preserving it for last 10 generations by many families in NIrona get their livelihood. Copper Bell art mainly originated from Sindh, many villages around border areas inside India & Pakistan make it.
Art of Lacquer practiced by semi nomadic tribe called Wada, in Banni area in and around villages of Nirona and Bhirandiyara. All colours used are natural used in adorning products like wooden spoons, bread rolling pins, containers, toys, utensils etc.
