Step on board and take a fascinating history cruise on beautiful Lough Corrib with local historian and boat captain Patrick, as he takes you on a captivating journey through time. Lough Corrib is the largest lake in the Republic of Ireland and reputedly has 365 islands in it . Your skipper will tell you the amazing history and ancient folklore of the lake and the surrounding area as the scenic landscape unfolds before your eyes. During the cruise you’ll experience the breath-taking scenery of the surrounding Connemara Mountains and well as seeing famous Ashford Castle from the water. This medieval and Victorian castle which has been expanded over the centuries, was once owned by the Guinness family who used it as a hunting lodge and is now five star luxury hotel. The castle was built on the perimeter of a monastic site in 1228 and has a rich and colourful history. A visit to The Old Steamers Quay on the lake and views of Lord Ardilaun’s Obelisk are highlights of the cruise.

    Departing from Lisloughrey pier close to Cong village, board the boat and start your guided history cruise on Lough Corrib, which is the largest lake in the Republic of Ireland. You skipper will take you pass some of the 365 islands on the lake. See the Old Steamers Quay on the lake and views of Lord Ardilaun’s Obelisk.

    On this cruise the skipper will take you past famous Ashford Castle, which is a medieval and Victorian castle, previously owned by the Guinness family and expanded over the centuries and is now a five star luxury hotel.

The view was amazing, the boat captain and helper were super friendly and knowledgeable. The Guiness and prosecco were surprisingly really nice. If you have young children, I would highly recommend this. The captain even let them steer for pictures
