Stingray City, Star Fish Point en snorkel-privérondvaart

This was a fantastic trip with our captain Omar. He was great with the kids and at all the stops, helping the kids maximize their time with the stingrays and at star fish point. The provided snacks and beverages just topped off their entire experience, with great snorkeling thrown in for good measure. We would highly recommend!

My family and I went out with Blue Ocean and had a first class experience. Captain Omar and Curtis were great to work with and ensured we had the adventure we wanted. They picked us up promptly from our condo and had us at Stingray City in no time. They quickly had a few stingrays that we could interact with and told us all about these amazing creatures. We then went snorkeling and to starfish point, followed by a lunch stop at Rum Point, which we requested. As this was a private tour, we set the schedule as we wanted and Omar and Curtis were great in pivoting as needed. Blue Ocean was great to work with and I would use them again in the future. Highly recommend.

I really wanted to write a good review. We had a great start to our trip and our guides were friendly and all the sites were great. But somehow this turned into a money pit. Towards the end of our tour we were informed that the restaurant stop was closed for another hour and we would need to pay extra to stay. For those booking a morning trip make sure you ask your guide ahead. As we would’ve left an hour later if we knew this ahead of time. No one told us that if we left at 8:30 we would not be able to do the 3rd stop. So then we get to the closed restaurant and wait around trying to make the best of our last hour of the tour. We tell our guides we can’t pay extra to extend our tour time so we are ok to leave in order to end our tour on time. They assure us that it’s no problem and we can stay a little longer to enjoy our lunch and not rush back. We order a small lunch literally a kids grilled cheese meal and fish tacos and eat quickly. When the bill comes it’s $228 the restaurant has charged us for our lunch as well as lunch for our two tour guides who were not seated with us. But we noticed we’re enjoying drinks and a meal while we ate as well. I’d normally have no problem to pay for a reasonable meal if we agreed to it ahead of time. We were shocked and surprised that their food was on us because we did not agree to this ahead of time and they each had 4 cocktails, an appetizer and two meals as well as sides. Their portion of the bill was more than half the price on the check. By now we feel guilty and pressured to pay it because they let us stay to eat our lunch and the alternative is to say no we can’t afford it. We had no idea we would be covering their lunch and their drinks as well. We tell the restaurant manager we will pay it since we had a good tour with our guides and they extended our time. But again feeling very strange about the situation since we got brought a bill without first agreeing to buy lunch. We move on and head back to our hotel. As we say goodbye we ask how we can get the great photos they took of our family during the stingray and starfish tour. Our guide tells us it will be $150 USD if we want the photos. We are confused as this was never mentioned as an additional price and is not listed on the booking site as not included. I did not take a single photo while on the tour because they were taking photos of us with a waterproof camera. Now we have nothing to remember our trip by. We are very sad about this but after the extra money spent on the lunch plus the tour price we felt we couldn’t spend another $150 on photos. Had we known this we would’ve taken our own photos which was my plan before they told us they would take pictures. Be careful and ask questions because it seems they provide services you may need to pay for and not know about until it’s too late. By the way had we not paid for their lunch we could’ve bought the photos with that money so it would’ve been nice if they offered the photos to us free or discounted or at least a smaller package that was not $150 additional dollars on top of what we spent already.
