Luxor:
The best city in Egypt and we were lucky to get the best guide to explore it, thats Mr. Omar Haridi, PHD in the Egyptian history. He has so much knowledge about the history of religion, history of the kingdom, Hieroglyphs and their meanings. History can be really boring at times if not told properly. Mr. Omar made it so awesome and logical that we always wanted to know more. The guy is so enthusiastic that he wl answer every damn questions of urs and if u don't have any he wl come up with questions for u. He made sure that we understand the real Egyptian history and my god it was mind-blowing. My personal favourite was hatshepsut temple. The valley of the kings and valley of the Queens are huge. We had only one day at the luxor so we could only see the highlights of them. One should try to give it 2 days if no time constraints. And if u are with Omar ask him to take you to the best lentil soup restaurant in luxor. I am carnivorous but trust me that was the best soup I ever had. So do try it. For shopping there is a nice market place next to the railway station where u can buy souvenir and stuff at reasonable rates but do bargain.
Cairo and Giza:
We did this tour with Mahmoud, another smart and one of the best tour guides u can get. He really made us comfortable and then gave so much information about the history of Giza and marvelous pyramids. Best thing is he knows the exact spots for getting the best photo shots and thats going to make your day. The museum is amazing and Mahmud really made sure that we wl understand the significance of each of the highlights in the museum. Food was little disappointing so the tour company might think about changing the contract. I personally had huge hope from the Nile dinner cruise but that was another flop show, the cruise is for 1.30-2 hrs. The cruise, the view, the performances and the juices were really good but the food was below average. The menu was tiny and was absolutely tasteless. It was a mix of dried - burnt chicken, tasteless pasta, rubbery bread and oversweet desserts. If u r still planning to go then consider going in the late hours around 7.30-8 pm local time. If u r planning to visit the market then consider uber as u won't require guide as such and tour company cars are little expensive although worth the comfort, so it's ur choice.
Abu simbel:
I think one should visit Abu simbel if u r planning a nile cruise. We went to Aswan and then from there to Abu simbel but that was hell tiring journey. 4 hr each side travel only through the desert. The monument is awesome, our guide was exceptionally well and explained the whole thing to us before entering the temple. He even tried to explain us about the history of aswan and Egyptian agriculture system on our way.
Overall awesome experience, thanks to Egypt Tours Portal for making it memorable for us.
