For gangasagar step by step description 1.first you should reach kolkata to kakdwip ...2 ways one by train from sealdah to kakdwip local train at5 to 6am is preferred ...second take a return taxi @4000approximate it will left you at 8 no jetty point counter 1 ,otherwise by train railway station to e rickshaw in rs 20 per passenger will drop at lot no .8 2. From lot no 8 , take a ticket for kachuberia in amazing cost of rs 9 per ticket , then stand in que for ferry this is very much crowded so take care another option is to take a private ferry if possible and available at that time it's expensive option ,ferry ride is 45 minutes . 3 landing at kachuberia then take a taxi in 2000 approximate for both sides you can arrange it with share to other companion passenger ,second option is bus which is quite cheap but time taken 4. Taxi /bus drop you about 850 metre from gangasagar place which you covered by feet or take a e rickshaw 5. Take a holy bath ,local people are very much poor so please don't hesitate to take their small assistance to keep your clothes and cloth changing under curtain for ladies please spend some money to help poor people 6 .when back to taxi stand take darshan of Kapil Muni mandir 7 then back as forward If you want to back in one day then start from calcutta at 5 to 6 am , last direct train from kakdwip is at 16-45 if you missed it then don't worry take a train for Lakshmikantpur and then Lakshmikantapur yo sealdah ...don't worry this is a hectic trip but amazing ......HAPPY JOURNEY

This was a wonderful tour with very kind and interesting Mr. Muzaffar Khan. Smooth pick up at 6am, we had local Bengal breakfast (included) and proceeded to go south. Yes, trip is very long, 3 hours to a ferry. But this is also an advantage, because you can see rural West Bengal life through the window. After couple of stops on the way for chai, we reached the ferry, which took us 35 minutes to get to the island. Local guide with a car picked us up and it takes another hour (!) to get to the beach, the confluence of Ganga and Bay of Bengal. We took some time to enjoy the beach, I've learnt some interesting facts and we visited the most important temple there. After that we had chicken for lunch at around 1pm (included) and started heading back the same way. I was dropped at my hotel at 7pm. You won't visit much places in Sagar Island, but you will blend into local life and see it from the inside. Good experience to see West Bengal beyond Kolkata. Thank you!

I’m pretty sure Muzaffar could make anything interesting but this tour was absolutely great. It gets you out of Kolkata and into the countryside. I saw so many amazing things. Taking a dip in the Ganges (Ganga) and touring the temples was so cool. He knows all of the out of the way gems for tea and the like so that was fun too. Seriously, if you have the time (it’s a full day) I HIGHLY recommend. BTW I’m American and not Hindu but Muzaffar did a great job explaining the significance of what I was seeing. It is sooooo worth it!
