Leaving Hendersonville, NC on Jan. 10th, we were chased by a snowstorm on I-26 to I-40 in Asheville, NC and from there to Greensboro, NC, turning north on I-840 to 29 and arriving in Danville, Va. 4 hours later. The new casino and hotel are located in an old industrial site but the three smeltering smoke stacks left in place to show what had been superimposed towering over the Caesars casino and hotel were a stroke of genius. Parking and check-in were a breeze with the help of Cheryl at the front desk and we settled in the room with no problem. The casino itself was beautiful with a Caesars statue at our entrance. Even with smoking allowed, the air was relatively clean, and the slots proved to be fair and fun. Two slot machines I had never seen before, Fu Pots and Pugs Pay, were a delight and helped pay for our trip. I was asked several time by workers if I wanted something to drink or coffee. Alcoholic drinks are not free so we just added Baileys Irish Cream to our free coffee upstairs and saved money. Know this, the hotel which has been opened for about a month is having growing pains. Our hot water had to be adjusted because we had none when arriving and an icebucket had to be brought because the room didn't have one. There is ice even though we were told there was none just go to the ice machine and check for yourself. The maids were nice and pleasant and we left them a good tip when we left. Caesars is a bright addition to a former blighted site and will be a great economic engine for the area. We will return soon.
