We (four Australians) had a fabulous experience cycling the Argo-Saronic tour supported by Cycle Greece. The ancient sites of Mycenae and Epidaurus in particular are an absolute highlight of the trip - the depth of remarkable history so engaging and memorable. Staying generally in family run hotels with some local character, enjoying Greek food (fantastic for vegetarians - so many choices and fresh flavours), and cycling through rugged hills and around gorgeous bays and coastal landscapes made the whole trip a great experience. There were some hills and also some fabulous long descents, and only one occasion when a car driver overtook a bit too close for comfort on a narrow road.
We also joined a cooking workshop by Savor Experience in Nafplio - it was great fun. Lots of vegetarians in the group and we helped cook and then enjoy a fabulous 4 course dinner with a couple of surprising and delightful twists in the dishes.
A couple of us are more casual cyclists and the daily cycle distances were manageable, with plenty of time to explore the sites and little towns. Logistically, the bikes (including e-bikes) were very good, with good battery range and power. The GPS route information for the self-guided tour was easy to load and clear, and the ferry trips seamless. The support guys who collected and brought the luggage for a couple of ferry trips were cheery and always on time.
Thanks Colleen. We recommend the tour.
