I recently took a holiday tour in Yogyakarta, Indonesia and it was an absolutely unforgettable experience. Our tour guide was very friendly and attentive, making sure that we were well looked after throughout the tour. We were picked up and transported on a horse cart around quiet rural villages, and the scenery along the way was absolutely breathtaking. We saw rice farming, views of Mount Merapi, and ancient Buddhist and Hindu temples.
One of the highlights of the tour was stopping at a small business that makes tofu from soybeans. It was interesting to see the process and learn about the local culture. We also stopped at a housewife's home where we learned how to make emping chips from melinjo nuts and then got to taste them. It was a fun and interactive experience.
The final stop on the tour was the Plaosan Temple, an ancient Buddhist temple built in the 9th century. It was truly a sight to behold and provided a glimpse into the rich history of the region.
Overall, the tour allowed my family (including a 10 year old boy) to experience the rich culture and life of the quiet rural villages in Yogyakarta. It was a wonderful and memorable experience that I would highly recommend to others.
