The resort website has an option for drop-in so we drove there ourselves for the day-trip tour and resort pass. The drive was challenging but not as bad as we expected. We decided to get breakfast at the resort before the hiking tour. We were very disappointed with the service from the staff and food quality even though we were charged a lot for the breakfast itself.
We booked a hiking tour to see the Cathedral waterfall. They saw that we don't speak Spanish but for some reason they gave us a tour guide didn't speak English at all. Thanks to the owner Daniel that happened to be there at that moment, we were provided with a lovely translator Lena. The hike was great. The guide Jesus led us to the waterfall through the rainforest pointing out a few interesting plants and birds and Lena translated. Despite the language barrier, we had a wonderful time and happy that we had our special private tour. The Cathedral waterfall is amazing creation of nature! Definitely must see if you're visiting here.
We spent a couple more hours and had lunch at the resort. The hot pools with the natural hot spring water were very good to relax in. The resort seems like it was planned well in the beginning but unfortunately it feels and looks very run down now. Overall we had a good time and enjoyed the hike, waterfall, and the hot springs.
