Fundive Catalina Islands (2 duiken alleen voor gecertificeerde duikers)

We went 4/17/23 on two Catalina Island morning dives. This company was excellent. Our dive master was Jose. Definitely big on safety, setting up gear for you (which was pretty new), and pointing out the highlights. Sharks, eels, octopus and many pretty fish. They sent great pics to us afterwards, too. Their customer service was great. Highly recommend you go with this shop if you plan to dive near Tamarindo.

I came to Tamarindo specifically for the diving in the area. There are a number of dive shops in the city and all drives are priced competitively within $10-20 of each other (~$140 for 2 dives). It's hard to choose, but after diving with Tamadive based on the recommendation from another dive shop whose boat was full, I can see why he came highly recommended. Tamadive has all new, very high quality gear, purchased only a few months ago in 2022. I dove with Franco, one of the owners in a small group of 3 people. He was very responsive to communication via whatsapp to book the dive and shared pictures after. I dropped by shop the day before (afternoon since he'll be driving in the morning) and was very professional. You can feel/see his love of diving and enthusiasm as he points out both macro and big sea life while simultaneously taking photos that he graciously shared with me afterwards. I also mentioned i have issues equalizing 1 ear and he made sure to check in on me and gave me breathing tips for my bouyancy which i appreciate. A really great experience! I wouldn't hesitate to dive with him again. Two dives: first one was poor visibility and was just ok. Hard to predict apparently in this area. Second dive: we went to another location away from catalinas given the poor visibility that day. He decided to try los arcos, which was awesome with good visibility. Swam under mini arch, zig zagged around walls and saw tons of eels, leopard rays, large 5ft sting rays, frenzy of white tipped reef sharks, octopus, frog fish, etc... The launch is off potrero Beach, small boat transfer to another and then you're on the water to dive site very quickly so not much opportunity to get seasick.

The ride to the dive spot was long, but all-in-all the trip was great. One of the best dives I have ever had. White tipped reef sharks, tons of eels. The guides were awesome. A little tight on the boat. Water can get a bit cold; you may want to use a 5mm (which they have).
