Of all the activities we had booked during our 10 day stay in Portugal, this was the one we were looking forward to most, so it’s such a shame what a huge disappointment this experience was for us. The main criticism of the tour was just in my opinion, false advertising. The beach pictured in the tour cover photo is where I would have loved to go! Secluded, private, inaccessible by land, and stunning blue waters. The beach they brought us to was literally on a river bank, where the river meets the ocean, in brackish waters. Also, the beach was advertised as secluded, but was anything but. It was completely accessible by land to the public, and there were many, many people walking around there who were not a part of the tour. After over 2 hours of being on the boat, we asked one of the tour guides how much longer until we were at the beach, to which he informed us that they had to delay for a little bit because the crew setting up the beach was not ready for us. Once we finally docked and were on the beach, we got to wait in lines and lines and more lines just to get drinks and the food. There were far too many people on the boat for the amount of staff they had working. The food itself was fine- nothing to complain about, nothing to write a 5 star review over either. By the time we got a couple drinks, and ate, we had at best 45 minutes to actually soak up some sun and enjoy the beach. The water sport equipment they offered consisted of 2 paddleboards, that were somehow supposed to serve the hundreds of people on board? To summarize, the tour just felt like a tourist trap, and that the main goal wasn’t to provide an amazing experience; but that it was for profit. Despite a lot of the negatives, we made the best of the situation. We did end up meeting some really cool people from all around the world, got to dance and drink on the boat ride back, and you do see some really stunning natural scenery along the way. I also just wanted to give a shoutout to the young woman who was working on board that day- even with all the people on board, she was super hospitable, friendly and made the tour feel more personal. To be clear, my intention for writing this review is not to complain- I want to provide an honest, transparent review of what our experience was like so that hopefully, you are not also left disappointed. In hindsight, we probably would have just been better off getting into an uber, and navigating to one of the many beautiful beaches the Algarve has to offer to spend the day there.
