We recently took the Cambridge Alumni-Led Walking Tour, led by Lise, who was knowledgeable and passionate about the city’s history. A highlight of the tour was King’s College Chapel as it also lets you wander to the river in the beautiful college grounds. You can, however, pay for this separately, which may be slightly cheaper. Our only complaint was confusion at the start. We arrived 20 minutes early and checked in with the ticket sellers in blue jackets about ten minutes before the tour began. They assured us we were in the right place in front of the entrance to King’s and that someonewould be thete soon to lead us. However, two minutes after the scheduled start time, having watched for but seen no one arrive to lead the group, we checked with them again — only to find out that the small group had already left and was gathering across the road, outside a shop. When we joined, we were referred to as "latecomers," which was a bit frustrating. It was only when we spotted Lise’s blue hat, that she carried in her hand the whole time, that we were confident we had found the right group and could finally relax and enjoy the experience. At no time were our tickets checked, which felt a little disorganised. We could very easily have been left behind. Going into King's at the end made it expensive but it was lovely to see inside.
