I purchased the all inclusive museum and mummy room ticket directly from the museum for 300 EGP. Photography inside the museum is an additional 50 EGP and the guide is extra too. The guide wanted 1,000 EGP, which I balked at, but finally we negotiated a price to 700 EGP. The tour took 2 hours, perhaps a bit more. The guide was actually very good, spoke English and knew a lot about Egyptian history and culture. In the end, I tipped him 200 EGP.
The museum will allow photography inside as long as you don't photograph the Tutankhamun Mask Gallery and the Royal Mummy Rooms. I respected those conditions and did not take photos there.
Be mindful the museum is not air conditioned, so it can get rather hot. The mummy rooms have A/C, but that's about it. Dress accordingly and get there early. This is an interesting museum. Not on par with those in America or western Europe, but still good. They host about 10 million visitors annually.
