23 Apr 2023
Yesterday was the first sail of the season for the team (April 22nd). Their excitement was palpable and contagious. I think we were all unsure of what we’d see due to it being the first trip but it was AMAZING. We saw several hump backs, minke whales, seals, & dolphins. The crew aboard the ship were very knowledgeable and friendly.
Tidbits for those considering this time of year:
-It was very COLD as we went in April. Bring a coat, gloves & hat. If you don’t need it, it will be much easier to shed the layers than to not have them
- Bring some of your own snacks & thermos w/ a hot drink. They did have a snack/drink bar onboard but options are school lunch level. Not wonderful.
- Put your phone down and have fun! This was an experience that was unforgettable and makes you reflect on the beauty of creation.
-Lots of people vomiting. Get some Dramamine from the gas station before boarding, you won’t regret it(speedway right across the street) They offer motion sickness pills in the gift shop prior to boarding as well.
-Parking is free in their lot
-There is an ATM to get cash in the gift shop
